Learn the language of Argentine Tango with Karen Jaffe of Tangogypsies.
The improvised dialog of this beautiful social dance allows one the opportunity to “listen” more closely, “speak” more clearly, create a space for a comfortable and respectful embrace and learn how to cooperatively create movement.
The history and evolution of Tango speaks to the beauty of connection, masculine-feminine energy, communication and musicality through movement. In this special Tango event, we invite the feminine to explore the roles of both leading and following, as we learn some fundamentals of the language of Argentine Tango.
Ladies, femme, queer, queens, goddesses and non-binary, join us!
Karen will guide us on this Tango journey…… shifting the traditional paradigm of the deeply rooted gender roles into a modern day application, while still appreciating the rich cultural roots of Argentine Tango.
The goal of this event is to weave cultural understanding of the Argentine Tango through our own body awareness, posture and balance, then to share, embrace and connect with another. Karen will guide you on your exploration of kinesthetic communication, the roles of leader and follower and on how to listen deeply to discover different rhythms and options to connect your movement to the music, prioritizing your and your partner’s comfort, connection and communication.
Allow yourself permission to relax, enjoy, and feel safe embracing and being embraced, experiencing cooperative and creative movement together with the common thread of the traditional Argentine Tango music. Share with us this opportunity to honor and empower the masculine and feminine that resides within all of us.
DANCE WITH HER is a safe container for anyone looking to explore the range of the feminine and to embrace the masculine aspects of our feminine energies. The event will include a 90 min workshop followed by a short performance, followed by a little social dancing for practice and play. Changing partners will be highly encouraged for the optimal experience, but is not required.
Get a group of your sisters together at Weaving Rainbows and strengthen the sisterhood as we come together to understand the beautiful and metaphoric nature of the amazing, improvised, perfectly imperfect social dance of Argentine Tango.
Developing the skills needed to dance Argentine Tango transfers into everyday life; relating to another, interacting and engaging respectfully, listening and speaking in a clear and concise manner. We understand better how to allow for a more balanced experience as we create together from moment to moment.
As in life, the dance is perfectly imperfect. We adjust and readjust all the time, creating a natural flow as we move from step to step to step. It’s not “what” you do, but “how” you do it!

Through a blend of breath-work, Argentine Tango, and equine assisted learning, participants will have the opportunity to
expand relational awareness through this highly experiential workshop. We will weave in exercises that allow
you to explore your relationship with undulating flow of tension and release, simultaneously holding awareness
of connection to self, other and environment. Through the inhale and exhale of the breath, leading and following
of tango, and send/draw requests of the horses, expand upon your own ability to stay present with, and
experience, connection to self and “other” in varying contexts. Walk away with new insights for how to manage,
preserve and project your own energy individually and in partnership.
Join us for a day full of deep introspection, connection and rejuvenation.

“Musicality”, or understanding different ways to express the music with our partner, is one of easiest skills that ALL LEVEL dancers can access and incorporate into their dancing to immediately add interest and variety to their dancing! Come explore some of the possibilities with Karen. No partner needed. This class is for EVERYONE.
Karen and Tate are available for private lessons, group lessons, and performances in Asheville area or wherever they are traveling. During tour breaks, Karen will be in Asheville and available for privates.
